Nathan and Xiaohan have been best friends since high school. Together, they developed DIVR from a personal project that was inspired by their love for VR and passion to make education more affordable and accessible.
Cofounder & CEO
Nathan is a Freshman at Stanford University studying Materials Science & Engineering with a focus in energy. As the CEO of DIVR Edu, he manages business development, attracts clients, recruits, and guides the vision of our startup. He is very passionate about making learning fun and engaging for students, but also making EdTech more affordable for schools. Outside of DIVR, Nathan enjoys cooking, building gadgets, and traveling the world.

Xiaohan is a Freshman at Cornell University studying Game Design. As the CTO of DIVR Edu, Xiaohan manages the team, leads content creation, and guides the design process for building our virtual worlds. He is interested in making VR a powerful learning tool for schools and making games fun, yet educational for students. Outside of DIVR, Xiaohan enjoys playing video games, watching anime, and snowboarding.
Larry, a Founding Partner at Amino Capital, is an alumnus of Tsinghua University, UF, and Stanford's Graduate School of Business. He is passionate about helping entrepreneurs build disruptive products in big data, AI, and VR/AR. As a successful investor, Larry also actively gives back to society by contributing to many nonprofit communities. Larry utilizes his extensive background to mentor the team as DIVR's advisor.
Sue, a Managing Partner at Amino Capital, is an alumnus of University of Utah and Stanford's Graduate School of Business. She has three patents and over 20 journal publications, and previously was a Postdoc fellow at Stanford University.She sits on the Board of Directors of YONO Health, and was interim CEO of CandyHouse. As an advisor to DIVR, Sue shares her insight on data analytics and machine learning.
Director of outreach
Julie, a Cornell University graduate with a dual degree in Economics and Fine Arts, is an analyst at AT Kearney. As DIVR's Director of Outreach, she utilizes her background in management consulting and art to extend the reach of DIVR. In her free time, Julie enjoys art, hiking, and long-distance running.
Matt Shimura is a Sophomore at Stanford University, studying the intersection between CS Graphics and Film. As DIVR’s Unity Developer, Matt creates virtual environments in Unity. In his free time he loves to make narrative shorts for Cardinal Studios, paddle for Stanford Dragonboat, and create empathy and story driven experiences through VR.
Carmelle is a Sophomore at Stanford University, majoring in CS under the AI track. As DIVR's Sound Engineer, she makes sound effects and music to bring our worlds to life. She enjoys technology’s applications for helping the world. When not coding, she likes to play with Unity, VR, and then make some more music.
DIVR Bootcamp is an annual summer camp in which we bring students from across the US and teach them how to build VR worlds with educational content. This fun learning experience is meant to cultivate the students' creative design, virtual reality exposure, collaborative nature, and entrepreneurial insight.
